If you passed your car driving test after 01 January 1997 you can legally drive a car or van up to 3,500kg (3.5 Metric Tons) maximum authorised mass (MAM), and tow a trailer of up to 750kg MAM.
In english, this means the weight of the:

To exceed these weight limits you must pass an additional driving test in B+E. (source :
B+E Trailer Licence
Do you need a trailer licence for work? Maybe you have fulfilled a lifelong dream of buying a pony, horse or speed boat! Or possibly the B-word (Brexit) has woken you up to the beauty of our country and it's time to caravan around the country and visit places that you have spoken of for years.
We also understand that you may have different experience. You may have inherited your BE licence if you passed your driving test before 01 January 1997 and towed before, but reversing might result in a few words like "Ba Humbug" on a good day and "F#€£!&>% @$*&%^ $£@%" on a bad day. For others they may have some experience towing a small trailer, whilst others have no experience at all.
